Ingredients that care for your skin

As always, our soap, bath and bodycare products are handmade using traditional methods, they are 100% natural with no added synthetic ingredients such as SLS, SLES, Propylene Glycol, Petrochemicals, Parabens etc. This means your skin receives the full benefits of the carefully selected and blended natural ingredients with none of the drying irritation of some detergents and other synthetic ingredients. With the exception of milk powder and organic honey all our ingredients are completely plant based.

While we don't subscribe to the view that all synthetic ingredients are bad there are certain ingredients found in the majority of other bath and body products whether they be low cost or expensive 'quality' brands that we will always avoid.

Many of these ingredients while known to be irritating to skin are currently deemed safe at certain concentrations, Sodium Laureth Sulphate being a well known skin irritant and indeed the benchmark chemical from which clinical research into irritation is often based. But it's becoming ever more frequent that we see news in the media of chemicals used in everyday products that are no longer regarded as good for you. We all use a wide range of these products everyday and long term exposure to even small amounts poses the risk of skin sensitisation to these chemicals.

What used to be safe yesterday may no longer be safe today and consumers are now spending much more time looking at the ingredients labels of not just the food they eat but also the products they put on their skin. People are making a choice, giving their skin the benefit of a doubt and not some of the commonly found harsh ingredients.

What we use:

Premium quality essential oils – many have well know therapeutic effects but after you've tried the scents you'll simply not want to return to lower grade synthetic fragrances

Organic Columbian Palm – a highly emollient vitamin rich oil used in our soap base to give a rich, gentle cleanser that helps lock in moisture. While much more expensive than the usually available palm oil, this product ensures organic, sustainable quality that does not contribute to legal or illegal de-forestation in South East Asia.

Almond, Olive, Jojoba, Coconut, Sunflower, Wheatgerm – carefully blended oils of premium quality, vitamin A & E rich and highly compatible with the skin to maximise the softening, emollient effects.

What we don't use:

SLS/SLES, Sodium Laureth Sulphate, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate

Artificial Colours, listed on ingredients as CI numbers

Propylene Glycol

Artificial Fragrances

Parabens
